Not much happening!

Not much has been happening since I went back to work... same old, same old.

July 8th is our Coven Camping weekend. We're going about an hour and a half away from Ottawa to a private campground along the Mississippi River west of the city. Ardoch Falls Wilderness Trailer Park (This is in Canada for all you southern folks.) ;)

I hope we get good weather... it's been a little hot and sticky lately... low to mid 30's and very humid too. :( As long as it doesn't rain all weekend we'll be happy. We'll sit around the campfire drumming and chatting and having a good time. Maybe even skinny dip if the campers are sleeping nearby.

Back to Work

I started back to work after being off for about a year now. My new job is ward clerk on our psych rehab unit. This is something I've never done before but have been applying to do for a couple of years. I'm getting too old to be an orderly and wrestling guys half my age to the floor or holding them down for injections. I don't heal as fast as I used to.

The learning curve is going to be a challenge since I'll be training myself for the most part. I had three half days of training with another orderly who doubles part time as a ward clerk. I didn't have access to our MediTech program, which is absolutely necessary to do the job for those days of training... yeah... not the best idea in the world. I finally got access on Thursday, which was my first day on my own. Needless to say it was a very busy day. I'm only working half days to start off which means I'm getting a little behind since they're too cheep to cover the other half of the day with another clerk. This is typical of our health care system these days with all our budget restrictions.

Anyway, I'm getting a handle on this as time passes and I'm sure things will be just fine. One other note... the nurses on this unit are even more anal than I am!
