Job Stress

I'm stressed out and in need of a vacation.

I do not like my job, since I don't really have one yet. I'm working, sort of, all over the hospital. Ward clerk here or there, learning the different routines and methods of each unit I work on and then on to the next place. I spent 8 days training in the admitting department only to find out that they're not really satisfied with my performance. There expectations are that I should be proficient at the job before I start at the end of October. Yet, they only give me 8 days training to learn the ins and outs of Meditech and the processes involved in the admitting department. Then they send me to work someplace else for four weeks so I can quickly forget half of what I learned before coming back to do the job. Make sense? NOT!

This week I'm working on a unit with another clerk to help her get caught up. But still it's learning different procedures and policies all over again.

I tell you, my hard drive is full and I think another week of learning new processes and policies will crash my brain completely.

Coven Member is Hopital

Some sad news came to us on the night of Saturday September 3rd. We were all gathered at the Broadway Bar and Grill for a group Birthday dinner. Carline, Tween, myself and Autumn all have birthdays within a four-week period so we tried a group celebration.

The dinner was to start at 6:30 p.m. and Autumn and her husband were missing. About 30 minutes later my cell phone rang and it was Autumn's husband on the phone saying they were going to be "a little late". Autumn was in the hospital. We didn't think it was anything serious and he didn't know what was going on either so we went ahead without them.

An hour later I made a call to him to check up on Autumn. He told me that Autumn had suffered a "brain bleed". This is much like a stroke but not caused by a clot.

We were all devastated and left immediately for the hospital but on arrival found that she had already been transferred to another hospital. (Queensway-Carleton to The Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus). She is now in Rehab at the Elizabeth Bruyere Health Centre.

Off we went again in search of our sister Autumn.

Well... this is a long story so I'll give you the short version or you can read it on their blog when it's done.

Autumn suffered a stroke, basically, right side paralysis of leg and arm. Loss of speech and coherent thought.

It's been two weeks and some healing rituals and she is making dramatic improvements!

She is up walking with a four footed cane, talking with some disorganized thoughts when she gets weary. Most recently she's been able to move her arm and grasp with her right hand.

We are hoping for a near full recovery, but could use help from everyone in your thoughts.
